Data Migration

Data migration is a set of activities that moves data from one or more legacy systems (Existing System) to a new Application. Existing system can be anything like spreadsheet, flat files or databases. We can divide Data Migration into two types

Data Conversion
This is one time activity which must execute before Production Go-live. In which existing data is extracted, cleaned, formatted and then load to new System. This activity can be manual or automatic.  This is required extensive testing and preparation.

Interface
This is the program which connects 2 systems to synchronize data. This can be manual, automatic or batch. This program used rapidly therefore to be designed and developed in most efficient manner. This is can be costly to be developed and maintained.
